The Elements of the New Covenant

The Elements of the New Covenant

Jeremiah 31: 31 Behold, the days come, saith the Lord, that I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel, and with the house of Judah:
32 Not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day that I took them by the hand to bring them out of the land of Egypt; which my covenant they brake, although I was an husband unto them, saith the Lord:
33 But this shall be the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel; After those days, saith the Lord, I will put my law in their inward parts, and write it in their hearts; and will be their God, and they shall be my people.

Jeremiah 36:26 A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you: and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you an heart of flesh.
27 And I will put my spirit within you, and cause you to walk in my statutes, and ye shall keep my judgments, and do them.

These two passages of scripture come handy in understanding the prophecies concerning the New Covenant.

In addition to these, there are those scriptures that speak of the coming of the Christ, a new kingdom, and some other more obvious elements.

But the scriptures above show us some elements that we need to understand the New Covenant better.

Besides the inbuilt redemption and forgiveness of sin in the covenant, here we see about 3 key elements we must take quite seriously.

1. The new heart and new spirit.
The issue of stiffness of neck, hardness of heart and unbelief have been the bane of the Old Testament. In fact, the law was given among other reasons, because of the hardness of the heart of the people. So the New Covenant contains the element of a new heart of flesh and a renewed and regenerated human spirit loaded with the very nature of God who birthed it!
This operation is what Jesus Christ described to Nickodemus as being born again and wondered why being born again was strange to him being a teacher in Israel.

2. Another element of the New Covenant is the inward law. The law of the new Covenant is written upon the tables of the heart of flesh. Both the general laws and the personal laws are all inscribed on each person's heart. No one has the grace to know things that pertains to you as much as you do, if you are born again under the New Covenant. They are all in custody of your new spirit within.

3. The Holy Spirit dwelling within us is a great element of the New Covenant. He wasn't dwelling within before now. But the grace of the New Kingdom affords the believer to be a carrier of the Holy Spirit. From within, the Holy Spirit leads and empowers the believer to do the will of the Father.

We need to remember that the New Covenant is not merely a division of the Bible but a new deal with man through which we can live to fulfil divine pleasure having removed the weaknesses of the Old Covenant.

Are you born again? If yes, then you ought to know that you have a new heart and spirit within, loaded with enough information to please God and continually being empowered by the scriptures.
We should also walk in the consciousness and confidence of the fact that the Holy Spirit lives within us. Which calls for total submission to His guidance in all things, in every situation.

And if you are yet to be born again, you need the cleansing the blood of Jesus provides, nothing else can wash away the sins of mankind. The death and resurrection of Jesus provides us the blood and the redemption that ratifies the New Covenant and the New Kingdom where Jesus is Lord till the end when He would hand over all rule to the Father.
Submitting to the Lordship of Jesus and accepting the New Covenant makes one a citizen of the Kingdom and as citizens, the new heart and spirit are imparted with righteousness and creates a temple for the Holy Spirit to dwell...

Good morning!
