In Search of a New Homeland!

In Search of a New Homeland!

Hebrews 11: 8-10, 13-16

By faith Abraham obeyed when he was called to go out to the place which he would receive as an
inheritance. And he went out, not knowing where he was going. By faith he dwelt in the land of promise as in a foreign country dwelling in tents with Isaac and Jacob, the heirs with him of the same promise; for he waited for the city which has foundations, whose builder and maker is God

These all died in faith, not having received the promises, but having seen them afar off were assured of them, embraced them and confessed that they were strangers and pilgrims on the earth. For those who say such things declare plainly that they seek a homeland. And truly if they had called to mind that country from which they had come out, they would have had opportunity to return. But now they desire a better, that is, a heavenly country. Therefore God is not ashamed to be called their God, for He has prepared a city for them.

And all these, having obtained a good testimony through faith, did not receive the promise, God having provided something better for us, that they should not be made perfect apart from us.

I'm of the opinion that many believers are yet to come to terms with their status as members of God's kingdom, delivered from the authority of darkness and translated into the kingdom of God's darling Son.

Yes, we may remain a kingdom within the kingdoms of this world, yet the difference is clear and it must show in our gait and swagger!

Our body language must pitch us on the other side of the fence, with well articulated difference in our words, actions and general lifestyle!

We won't be the first to be told about the Kingdom of God. It was a mere vision for the patriarchs back then, it was preached by John and came to reality in Christ and now we wait for the perfection when all other kingdoms would have literally submitted to Christ's and He too would submit all to the Father....1Corinthians 15:24

But we have quite a lot to learn about the kingdom and the attitude required to enjoy its full benefits from the Patriarchs.

After getting the knowledge about the new homeland, they went out of their old home...by faith.

You can't believe in the new kingdom and remain at home in the old. It's a sign that the reality hasn't dawned and you can't get there except you move towards it.

They dwelt as strangers in their promised land in tents as they wait for God to fulfil His promise of total taking over and building a new homeland from foundation!

Today, we must also dwell here as strangers waiting for the King. This contraption isn't our heaven. This isn't our kingdom yet, and its sheer foolhardy to expect much from this old dying world...the stone is destroying the image, only the weak toes, made of a mixture of iron and clay are remaining! Daniel 2. It's over for this present physical worldly kingdom...only waiting to pass away!
According to Apostle Peter, 2Peter 3:11&12 what manner of persons ought we to be in all holy lifestyle as we wait?

The patriarchs kept their eyes on the picture of the new homeland, they embraced it and confessed their being strangers in their then present state. We must keep it in our minds that we have no continuing city here. We must live in the kingdom of God by faith even now.

They kept the old country out of their minds. They believed keeping their minds of the old country, even though they were living in it, would give them the opportunity to go back there.

We must never envy the world. We have missed nothing following God's will and kingdom, we only have gained a land flowing with milk and honey. We must put our minds on the full manifestation of the kingdom of Christ wherein dwell righteousness, peace and fullness of joy.

And to now realize that they all died in faith not seeing any part of God's kingdom put on us a great responsibility particularly when it was so ordained that they without us cannot be made perfect.

Now in Christ those who have believed genuinely have redemption and forgiveness of sin, a new heart and a new spirit within, with the laws of God written upon the tables of their hearts and the Spirit of God living within they are said to be born again having access into the kingdom and living under the rule and will of God through Christ waiting for the next phase of the revelation of the kingdom towards its full manifestation.

We under such grace must keep our focus with a clear vision of the New Homeland which God has prepared for us...we may be in the world, we must not pretend that we are of the world...
