Testing for a True Christian Vision

Testing for a True Christian Vision

A True vision is proven if it acknowledges the big picture: (the big picture is one that sees the body of Christ in its entirety, non denominational, non sectional, non sectarian picture. It accommodates all that name the name of Christ, all the ministries so ordained by the grace and the anointing of the Holy Spirit.) No vision should be myopic or narrow minded.
A vision is tested so if it sees the ultimate vision. The ultimate vision is that which sees the extent to which Christ sees...the vision of God that all should come to the knowledge of Christ and be conformed to God's own image. If all a person sees in his or her vision is the largeness of congregation and the money and the institutions built out of the gifts of God upon him then the vision is mere imagination or hallucinations which may have become a stronghold or high thought that exalts self against the knowledge of God.
A vision from God can't see only self, and can't focus just on temporal things....

Christianity and Politics

Christianity and Politics

Looking towards the coming election in my country, politicians are becoming everything to everyone to win as many as possible. All manners of things are being thrown into the fire to keep it burning. The most inflammatory are those issues that people care about the most.

Over the years, people have learned and have gotten used to living the most vital parts of their lives as if government hardly exists. If the government closes down today, people may not feel it in a year. Most homes generate their electricity by themselves and most neighborhoods arrange for their securities. Water is supplied either by home boreholes or by commercial water retailers, mega and mini. In more endowed communities, the roads and the street lights are provided by the communities. And it's difficult to connect employment with government efforts, and if anyone is in business, he must have sourced for capital outside any well known government policy.

In a state as this, political campaigns hardly dwell around issues. People are hardly fooled anymore by any overblown promise. There's hardly anything to say as a promise that'll move people to vote for any politician or political party.

So politicians result to using people's emotions and sentiments to woo them and make them follow. The end is to gain or retain power while they continue with their regular neglect of the people.

So ethnicity is a major issue, where we have already inculcated in our skulls by our constitution, the anomaly of 'federal character' in appointments and governmental positions even if those positions were supposed to be occupied by the best hands not minding who they are. We prefer federal character reflecting in appointments rather than in welfare or in the fundamental results of good governance.

Such a people as we are would easily be moved by ethnic sentiments and so politicians quickly pounce on that as a way of controlling the people.

The other tool in their hand is religion. Nigeria is rated at a time as the most religious country in the world. I doubt if any other country is anywhere near us as I speak. We are more religious than the people the oracles were even committed to.

Religion not as in the spiritual interpretation of the phenomenon but in psycholigical alignment. Our religion will move us to mosques on Friday and to churches on Sunday. In our forms we fill what religion we belong to and such spaces can't be left blank. It's only a means of identification, our names are more religious than our hearts, our religiousity affects our demography more than any other thing in our society. Our public conducts may not have been touched by our religions but we know which religious party we belong and that of our neighbors and we are quick to defend our side with all we have got.
So religion becomes a good tool in the hands of politicians.

It is in this light that Christianity is put at this time. Christianity is not a religion in the spiritual sense of it. It is a way of life and essentially personal. It is patterning ones life to conform to that of God and of Christ through Christ, His Spirit and His Word and separating oneself from the corruption that's in the world through lust on our journey towards heaven.

Be that as it may, we can not separate ourselves as Christians from our environment. We are rather to help sanitize and influence the happenings in our  environment of which politics is major.

Politics leads to governance and the governor is over all. The Christian too will have to make choices in a democratic environment and he cannot shy away from that responsibility. It is both a responsibility and a right.
The question however is if Christianity needs politics or the government to thrive or expand.

Though politics is a civic responsibility and everyone has a right to participate, we must not allow politicians to define the role of politics in Christianity. Christianity may have a role to play in politics and in governance but there is no direct biblical injunction as to the need of government in the success of Christianity.

Yes, history has it of the mix of the kings and the priests ruling...that mix was what sent Jesus to the cross, it hardly supports the cause of Christ and it's hardly needed. Christianity has thrived under hostile governments, and may have really suffered lots of setbacks under so called friendly rulers who brought such ease that erased out the line that demarcates between disciples and the crowds.

The sentiments of political campaign has been that a non Christian political leader will exterminate Christianity as if Christianity depends on a worldly kingdom or king to be what it was meant to be.

Meanwhile, in the injunctions of scripture of what a ruler should be as ordained of God we don't have it that the leader must be a Christian yet certain roles are expected of him that makes whoever that is a 'minister of God' Read Romans 13

Those things separate a godly ruler from an ungodly one and not really the religious affiliations. It's just like any other profession that bears on people's lives and destinies. You would hardly ask which religion your pilot belong before booking or boarding your flight and if you have any fear, you call on your God in a personal conversation.

But you won't board if that person is of your religion but without adequate certification or training as a pilot.
God has raised each person to fulfil certain purposes and that goes beyond religion. God uses people to accomplish his will and they don't even have to believe He exists to use them.

It is dangerous and ungodly therefore to nurse and disseminate the sentiments that only a Christian can occupy a political position to rule over Christians under God, particularly in a multi-religious society as ours.

It is doing a disservice to God and His Christ to make the thriving of His kingdom depend on a worldy, temporal, human government. It doesn't portray God as the omnipotent being who created the heaven and the earth without the help of any man.

If a national church get spitted out of the mouth of Jesus, it is because such is neither hot or cold and had refused the warnings of Christ and not because a physical government rose against the church to defeat it. It is clear from the book of Revelation.

Political seasons will come and go, to return again, such rollercoaster phenomenon is too unstable to define what Christianity is or stands for. Christian leaders selling such ideologies aren't doing so to support Christ or His cause.

If we call a political ruler a Christian leader, we present such as representing our ideals and if such fails we tarnish the image of Christ. He may be a Christian but he is a political leader and not a Christian leader. He may use his Christianity to achieve positive results as a political leader as expected and nothing more.

These are crucial moments which call for the truth and the interpretation of things in the light of the truth.
Christian, don't vote because someone bears a Christian name, vote someone who will do the will of God. Someone who can punish the evil doer and commend the good and not the other way round. If such is a Christian, all well and good if not, it removes nothing from him as a Romans 13 ruler!

The Margin of Error

The Margin of Error

I love intricacies. I love to find out the little things that make life what it is and sometimes those things that don't let things be what they should be. I love to study the weaknesses of man and I have written some about the weakness phenomenon. How man revels in his weaknesses thinking they are his glory.

Until I discover my weakness, I don't have the control of my strength, for a little folly makes a reputation of wisdom to bring forth foul odour. A little leaven leaven the whole lump and it's the little foxes that destroy the vine. There's is the evil a little folly can do if not dealt with. My little weakness, if not separated and banished can become the controlling link of my strength...and what a master that would be!

People complain quite often that the big things they do for good isn't recognized while the little errors are never left unnoticed. It is the weakness of man. If it's good, we take is as normal, but a little error is abnormal that messes up a great reputation. The repercussions of the small errors outweighs the rewards of the regular good according to man's weak justice.

Take care of that 'little' that may mess up your greater good. A little deviation from the standard would produce a different result. A turning, just a little before or after the right turning will at least make the journey longer if not lead to an outright different destination. And life is a journey.

That's the strength of a little error. Science teaches about the margin of error in experimentation and beyond that range permitted you'll begin to experience significant differences in outcomes. What I noticed is that the margin of error is always very narrow in everything.

In the spirituals, I have noticed also that the margin of error comes the same way. It is also very narrow. The difference between light and darkness is almost invisible. The picture of a rising sun and a setting sun cannot be differentiated; in both, you see the sun in a romance grip with darkness. You may not know, except you were the photographer, if darkness was vomiting the sun at dawn or it was swallowing it at dusk. The margin is very thin and the difference isn't alway clear!

Between witchcraft and intercession is the same thin line. Both operate in the spiritual sphere and each operates to cause an effect on someone else. The effect of one will be good and that of the other evil but when both are in operattion you may even permit and practice the evil while the good is put in check, unknowingly! They look too much alike!

The problem with the little margin of error is the elastic effect they produce. An invisible germ swallowed as nothing will produce monumental life threatening outcomes that maybe difficult to handle. Such is what 'little' can do.  A little deviation from the truth of Christianity will produce another genre of religion with far reaching effect on the world. A little dilution from what Jesus brought will not produce what Jesus expects. Yet we play with that little margin daily under different excuses and licenses.

It's being difficult for many to see the thin line between Judaism and what Jesus brought, it's also a thin margin of positive deviation; but many often travel and forage back beyond the line, far into what is past before knowing the difference that they had gone far beyond the margin of acceptable error. Apostle Paul battled that thin line with Judaism and its legality which has no regards for the grace of Christ, all of his life, that the truth of the gospel might continue with us.

[My Offline Bible] Galatians 2
4 And that because of false brethren unawares brought in, who came in privily to spy out our liberty which we have in Christ Jesus, that they might bring us into bondage: 5 To whom we gave place by subjection, no, not for an hour; that the truth of the gospel might continue with you.

The thin line and the small margin of error separate the truth from error. Always hard to locate but always necessary to locate. It's a line we often love to overlook and cover up. That margin unsettles us.

People who speak often of that line are often ostracized, and seen as unsocial and they are often unpopular. They are seen as the enemies of the common good and are never-do-wells. They are called the critics of the good and enemies of glory and the police of the church. But I'm sure Abraham will see much more at this time what crossing that line between the freewoman and the bondwoman could mean...the result is clear!

I see that God permitted that of Abraham to show us what far reaching effect crossing the line of that margin of error can produce. My daughter asked me a few days back if God was angry at Abraham going in into Agar! I never gave it a thought. But scriptures didn't say God was...He didn't have to, He can deal with the repercussions, we are the ones who can't...and here we are.

But we are often oblivious of the margin in our practice of godliness today. We don't take time to check for the margin of error so as not to cross the line. We are intolerant of those who might help us see...and God waits, watching as we practice all sorts calling everything Christianity.

Knowledge and understanding  stabilize out times. More knowledge and clearer understanding define the line for us and make it clearer and more visible. But knowledge and understanding must be within the context of a sincere heart and a deep passion for the truth of the gospel beyond any personal ambition or inordinate affection and lust. Knowledge and understanding must be cultured in the manure of the fear of God to keep us within the bounds of truth!

We must always remember what far reaching effect not being mindful of the margin of error in our Christianity can cause maybe not immediately but in the long run. When we stand before the judgment seat of Christ to receive what we have done in the flesh either good or bad...

This calls for a true heart seeking what the truth of the gospel is. A searching heart looking for what Jesus Christ expects. A sincere and fearless heart ready to confront the truth and accept it as true. A free spirit untied to whatever will bind the truth. An open heart that scrutinizes and embraces righteousness without guile...
We all need it...and it'll be peace to us and to our generations!

6 And wisdom and knowledge shall be the stability of thy times, and strength of salvation: the fear of the LORD is his treasure.

Leadership Support

Leadership Support

The national events of the last few weeks ahead of the coming elections remind me of a very important factor in leadership success: leadership support.

A leader is either made or marred to a large extent by the quality of his aides and those who have access to his ears. They either bring the best out of him or bring out the worst in him.

The influence of leadership is enormous. When the righteous rules the people rejoice and when the wicked rules they mourn Proverbs 29:2. The leader sets the pace, you have to cue. The limit and speed of an organization is determined by the leader except the leader is changed he remains the prime mover and the speed determinator. Against a king there's no uprising, when he has the right troops with him Proverbs 30:29-31. Power is with the king, he either oppresses with it or cares for his people with it, Ecclesiastes 4:1.

This power and influence is easily accessed by aides. If you can control the king you can actually rule the city without overthrowing him. You can use the power of the king sometimes against him through him. You can use the king to kill your own enemies and you can turn the king against his own lovers. I see this everyday. It is the weakness of man.

The aides of a king feed him with information and interprete the information in a way that will favor them even if it hurts the innocent and the king himself. Eventually the king is painted black.
The aides also represent the king to the people and the king is either blamed or loved out of the representations. They write the speeches or would not write if they want the king to make his mistakes openly and get knocked for his errors by the people.

The greatest enemies of a king might just be those who have his ears and those he sends to execute on his behalf.

David's grandson, Reoboam lost a legacy of almost a century of the reign of Jesse's house to some aides and friends who gave him a wrong counsel. And with just a speech the whole Israel turned back to their tents, the nation became divided and Israel till today never remained the same. It's all about leadership support.

Solomon said... [My Offline Bible] Proverbs 29
12 If a ruler hearken to lies, all his servants are wicked.
The word 'Hearken' means more than just hearing, it means acting on what is heard. Permitting what you are told to influence your decision. The possibility is there that a king will wrongly use his power by allowing his decisions to be influenced by errors and lies as told by his servants. Many leaders have been moved even against God and good men by such wicked servants.

God won't support certain thrones even if he was the one who installed it. When a throne is moved to commit wickedness it may be destroyed no matter who influenced it. [My Offline Bible] Proverbs 16
12 It is an abomination to kings to commit wickedness: for the throne is established by righteousness.

Evil leadership aides destroy the throne. They eat up the establishment of a king and erode the foundations of rulers. They move the king against his loyalists and expose him to the whims of his enemies. King Solomon has an advice which his son didn't take to.... he said... [My Offline Bible] Proverbs 25
4 Take away the dross from the silver, and there shall come forth a vessel for the finer. 5 Take away the wicked from before the king, and his throne shall be established in righteousness.

Are you a leader? Take away the dross from the silver, remove the wicked before they turn you against your establishment. Check that you are not listening to the lies of those who have your ears... be sure you are not being influenced to do wickedness by the information wicked aides give you... your throne is at stake!

And to you who have the ears of your leaders, be careful. The second level leader sits on a dicey rope. Remember Joab! Joab didn't have the same heart with his master, David. He used the position he attained and the relationship he had with David to perpetrate evil, shedding the blood of war at the time of peace and murdered the innocent in cold blood. He thought he got away with it but his hoary head never went down to his grave in peace... 1Kingd 2:5&6

It an abomination to seperate chief friends...and to develop enmity among brothers, and the rewards of such abominations won't be a blessing. Proverbs 16:28, 6:16-19.
Watch it that you remain a peacemaker to your king and a truth teller and so preserve your life and the throne of the king. It's better to be quiet than move the king into error. It is better to resign your position than to be removed as dross...

Did I say every leadership decision must be blamed on the aides? No! But if you have any little influence on the king to either inform him or represent him then know that your position is a dangerous one...lies and wickedness must be far from your tongue...

Leadership goes beyond any big office...you lead yourself first and lead your home because if you ever have anyone to lead then think on these things...I pray your throne be established in righteousness in Jesus name.

What Justifies for Honor?

What Justifies for Honor?

I'm sure you have heard the phrase 'Give honor to whom honor is due'. It is a parlance derived out of the letter of Apostle Paul to the Romans.
[My Offline Bible] Romans 13
7 Render therefore to all their dues: tribute to whom tribute is due; custom to whom custom; fear to whom fear; honour to whom honour.

I'll implore you to read that in context to understand my drive.
This injunction is technically conditional and it should be so noticed because it is clear that not all is due for fear or for honor.
The one to give out the honor must judge the one to receive if such is due for it or not. The world judges differently. The standards of the world is such that may not give honor to whom it is due but to those who don't deserve it.

When you study the passage in context you will see how a ruler to whom honor is due earns it. A ruler for instance to whom honor is due will be one who is not a terror to good works but a revenger, who execute wrath against evil doers. In the office of rulers that's what qualifies one for honor. Every honor received therefore must be justified.

The world justifies positions and wealth and to so many, those who have them are due for honor irrespective of whatever they use their positions and wealth for.
Yes, positions come with their honors and achievements their dues but what the opportunities are used for is the plate upon which the honor is served.

A father deserves honor but what of the irresponsible and abusive fathers who oppress and assault their children? A pastor deserves honor but what honor does a pastor who sleeps with female congregants deserve?

But we justify the honor we demand by our own scorecards. We flaunt our gifts and anointing as reasons to be honored without asking if we truly deserve it. We forget that even the anointing didn't come because we are good rather because we are so purposed.

So many have become irresponsible towards the privileges conferred on them because they do not see their honor beyond those privileges. If the only thing that gives you honor is your position and not the good you use your position to spread then you hardly deserve such honor.

Saul went pursuing David and an unnecessary war ensued. That singular act of Saul puts his life on the line and sentenced him to death: the only reason why David didn't kill him was because he was anointed of God, a factor Saul himself didn't consider before starting the war. He got the honor he didn't deserve and he eventually paid for it with his life in a war just as David had prophesied when he spared his life. If the only reason you are feared and spared is only because of your position and not your actions then be careful of divine judgment.

The bottom line here is that we should be careful the honor we demand. Every honor we enjoy might have come based on our position and we should be grateful and responsibly justify such. If we behave as if we deserve it and start demanding it, we may pay for it dearly later on.

Jesus Christ our Lord was approached and hailed as 'the good master' and I'm sure he deserved it but he pointed out to the man that none is good except God. Yes, people saw goodness in Him and would want to give honor to him in that regard but He quickly redirected it to the right owner, the Source of all goodness, God. Meaning, whatever good we even do, that may attract honor to us must have been inspired and initiated by God, left to us we are evil without Him. We are only endeavoring to live up to the good He desires to do through us and I doubt if our best efforts are good enough to give ourselves a personal thumb up.

But a major weakness of man is his appetite for honor even when he hasn't lived up to any. He wants immunity and absolution from whatever errors he might commit just because of his position. He should be feared because he has certain opportunities. He could break the law and should be honorably excused of any consequences. His position justifies him. His wealth justifies Him and nobody should ask him. So he sets himself up against the One who is no respecter of persons. He brazenly faces God and believes he would be justified by such a God. He won't! It is his weakness and man must be careful.

We must seek to live up to our God given positions and if any honor then comes we direct it towards God. He only can justify us to honor us. Jesus Christ our Lord said, we find it hard to believe God and depend on Him because we receive honor one from another and do not seek the honor that comes from God.
[My Offline Bible] John 5
44 How can ye believe, which receive honour one of another, and seek not the honour that cometh from God only?

If what we want is the honor from God then we will seek His own justification and not the justification of men or of positions. Whatever privileged positions you may have, either as a minister of God, a public or political office holder or a politician, you have nothing to justify yourself with. Your goodness isn't enough yet to give ourselves or receive personal kudos.

Jesus said when we have done all that is demanded of us we should then call ourselves 'the unprofitable servants' because we have not done more than was demanded of us. [My Offline Bible] Luke 17
10 So likewise ye, when ye shall have done all those things which are commanded you, say, We are unprofitable servants: we have done that which was our duty to do.

And that is when we might have so done, not speaking of when we have hardly done what was commanded. The best of us should still call himself an unprofitable servant having done only that which was commanded: so what honor should those who haven't done up to that demand by any justifications?
Let's leave the justifing to God and to His grace, and let's be wary of demanding any honor and if any comes our way then give it to God, the source of all goodness and don't give honor to those to whom it isn't due. Good morning.

Welcome to 2015: The Year of What?

Welcome to 2015: The Year of What?

I don't know when it started that each year will have it's heading and theme. I grew up to know that certain churches would have a central scripture as theme annually. Such would guard the Bible studies and other activities.
I remember that in members houses hanging banners would carry the theme with the scripture boldly written and translated to the local language.
In the mid 90's the game changed. The lengthy theme was adopted as short cliches by new generation churches with car and door stickers carrying them. It also controlled the theme and the direction of preaching, teaching and bible studies. It used to be the tradition of a few churches then, but between then and now, it has become so much of a generalised culture that one wonders if it's a direct injunction of Christ, a move of the Spirit or a mere tradition.

Definitely it's not a doctrinal issue. It wasn't a practice of Christ or of the early Apostles. It wasn't taught as doctrine too and it won't be a sin if a congregation doesn't do it.
I believe it can be a church administration tool to help in discipleship as it focuses the theme of teaching and the direction of faith and expectations.
But more and more it reveals that the discipleship goal of this tradition has become less important if not totally out of sight. The focus is more and more on the prophetic expectations and that may still be excusable if the whole thing hasn't drifted into mere wishful thinking without any iota of the influence of the Spirit of God.

In these days when our success is hardly how much of Christ we are comformed to but how much money comes out of church activities, the economy of the yearly tag is also important if it hasn't become a major motivation. When stickers, emblems, t-shirts, caps, handbands and other paraphernalia are put of for sale, merchandising systems can make a fortune so much so that even when God says No, the allure of the cash flow may not permit the ear to hear.

We can see that we now need to review this tradition so as not to get conditioned to evil, thinking we are doing good. We need to ask ourselves, what exactly would God want from us this year? What does He have in store for us to expect? What is the direction of God's movement this year?
These are questions that border on our relationship with the Holy Spirit and there maybe lots of darkness in that realm with people who lead with ulterior motives. You can't always base your destiny on what others tell of the Holy Spirit when you as a child of God have Him dwelling inside of you. And no one knows the things of a man but the spirit of that man that dwells within him.
And if for a reason or another, knowing what God wants becomes difficult we can always turn to the scriptures: the more sure word of prophecy eternally settled in heaven.

What would God want from you this year? What should you expect from Him? God would expect us to become more like Him this year irrespective of what cliche your church goes with for the year. God would expect that we will get out more and more from the ways of the world and be renewed in our minds by the ways of God. He will expect true holiness and righteousness from us this year. He wouldn't expect us to be lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God this year. Truth and absolute truth must be on our lips in every thing and at all cost. He will want us to depend on Him more and more and less on our own schemes and wicked wisdom. He would want us to be led by His Spirit and no more by our flesh, ambitions and appetites. He will want us to come to the knowledge of the truth more than ever before and abstain from every evil doctrine and complacency towards His knowledge and His ways. He will expect that we walk in the spirit bringing forth the fruit of the spirit and walking in love towards one another as He has loved us and gave Himself to us. He would expect that we stand for the truth of the gospel in evangelism and serve Him with all we have got.
What should we expect from God this year? I'm sure, God would remain God this year. He will expect that we look up to Him to be led in everything to our profiting. He will expect that we come boldly to the throne of His grace to receive grace and mercy to help at our times of need. He would want us to expect His faithfulness towards the fulfillment of our redemption in Christ. He would want us to expect that His promises and purposes for our lives will come to pass for this year. He would also want us to know that our righteousness, healing, prosperity, victory over demonic enemies, security, favour, peace, longevity and every other thing that Jesus Christ payed for will manifest as we believe and receive them by faith this year. He will expect that we walk in boldness in Him trusting Him that whatever the devil throws at us will not prosper against us and that we will rise above all with Him on our side and we on His side.
He wouldn't expect this year to be the year of iniquity and unrighteousness neither will He expect that the year will be a year when evil will prevail against us. Rather we should expect His will to be done and His kingdom come while the kingdom of Satan with his sin and of the devil and his evil will wax weaker and weaker in our lives.
That's what this year is for and that's what next year will be for too and all the years to come...and in having such expectations we become more and more like Him and we enjoy more and more of Him. So 2015 is your year of what?
Good morning and Happy New Year. Share this.
